Background and Discussion:

The Zube Storm Water Detention Basin will help alleviate flooding in the Little Cypress Creek watershed. This change in contract is needed to complete the construction contract for this project. A contract modification is necessary to adjust plan quantities for several items and to add 96 days to the contract duration, 62 days due to inclement weather, and 34 days for additional scope of work.  Quantity deductions for items no longer needed have been made to offset the costs associated with the additional scope.

Expected Impact:

This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
