Background and Discussion:

The project is an asphalt roadway reconstruction project with localized base repairs, mill and overlay, ditch regrading, culvert replacements, and adjustments.  During the point base repairs along Sheridon Road.  It was observed that much of the base material and subgrade were failing along this roadway.  To properly repair the subgrade, it was decided to treat the subgrade with cement causing the need for cement in-leu of lime and fly ash.  Also, the base and asphalt items required an increase to properly repair the roadway.

Changes include the addition of cement stabilized subgrade and 10% cement for base repairs.

•                     PCO-1 for the addition of new line item #54 Cement Stabilized Subgrade Manipulation at 8” to 10” and #55 Cement (10% by dry weight) - adding $633,91750.

Changes also include the reconciliation of existing bid items for final payment.

Expected Impact:

Changes will allow for the adjustment to the original contract to reflect actual work performed due to actual field condition and allow new items to be added to the contract so that the project can be completed in accordance with the original intent and provide the neighborhood with a smoother, more durable roadway.

Alternative Options:

Leave out all additional work and perform under different contracts.
