Background and Discussion:

Funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the purpose of this program is to support the understanding of current and future greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; implementation of climate action plans, technologies, and solutions that will reduce GHG emissions and other harmful air pollution; as well as transition the country to a clean energy economy that benefits all Americans. This program is designed to provide flexible support to applicants regardless of where they are in their climate action planning or implementation process.

Expected Impact:

This grant is a sub-award for the formula grant allocated to the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land Metro Area for climate pollution reduction planning efforts, which is being administered by the Houston-Galveston Area Council. Partner sub-recipient agencies include the City of Houston, Fort Bend County, and the Houston Advanced Research Center. The scope of work includes developing a priority climate action plan for the region and issuing a comprehensive report, including an updated workforce planning analysis. The County's portion of the regional award is $238,750, with no required match.
