Background and Discussion:

This project will provide flood damage reduction benefits to the upper and middle reaches of Keegans Bayou and was identified as a recommended project in the Keegans Bayou Watershed Planning Study. The project includes the design and construction of the Keegans Bayou Stormwater Detention Basin and associated channel improvements along HCFCD Unit D118-14-00. Construction is anticipated to occur in two separate construction phases. This item is requested to allow the selected consultant to continue advancing the design of the proposed improvements.

Expected Impact:

Under ultimate conditions, the project will provide approximately 437 acre-feet of detention storage near HCFCD Unit D118-14-00 and Keegans Bayou (HCFCD Unit D118-00-00), reducing flood risk to approximately 560 structures during the 100-year flood event.

Alternative Options:

The alternative to approving this item would be to select a different consultant which will delay progress on this project.
