Request for approval of the Harris County Legislative Platform and Legislative Agenda for the 2027-2028 Biennium.
end
Background and Discussion:
Request by Harris County Intergovernmental and Global Affairs (IGA) for approval of the Legislative Platform and Legislative Agenda. The Legislative Platform establishes the County's policy priorities and serves as the foundation for advocacy on state, federal, and global issues. It is organized around eight priority areas: justice and public safety; economic opportunity; housing; public health; transportation; flooding and resilience; environment; along with governance and customer service.
The Legislative Agenda identifies the statutory changes Harris County will pursue during the 90th Texas Legislative Session. IGA will advance policy initiatives developed in collaboration with Commissioners Court offices and informed by the needs identified by County departments and offices. These initiatives are designed to improve quality of life, strengthen public trust, enhance government efficiency, and protect and increase County revenue while supporting more effective County operations.
Expected Impact:
Monitor and engage in legislative and policy issues at state, federal and global levels.
