Background and Discussion:

The Apache Corporation is a Houston-based oil and gas exploration and production company.  Since 2005, the Apache Corporation Tree Grant Program has provided more than 5 million trees <https://investor.apacorp.com/news-releases/news-release-details/apache-corporation-tree-grant-program-opens-applications-2023> to over 1,000 nonprofit charitable partners and government agencies in the U.S. Apache Corporation has donated trees to a wide variety of organizations, including cities, counties, schools, parks, universities, youth associations, wildlife refuges and charitable service groups. In addition to the development and improvement of public parks and greenspaces, community partners often request trees to support a broad range of conservation efforts, including preservation of natural habitats and reforestation.

Expected Impact:

The awarded trees will be planted in various Precinct 3 parks, along trails, in green spaces and roadway medians, and in tree farms for future relocation.  Additional trees will increase the tree canopy in Precinct 3 and enhance the public’s enjoyment of public spaces.
