Background and Discussion:

DECON LLC will be responsible for delivering the detailed design of the selected shelter concepts from Phase 1. DECON LLC will coordinate with and follow the Office of the County Engineering (OCE) and METRO's established standards and guidelines for the 250 shelter-ready locations across HCP4.

The Consultant will provide architectural, structural, and civil detail designs for new bus shelters, shelter

furnishings, and amenities that comply with METRO design standards at up to 250 shelter-ready locations

to be used across Precinct 4. The process and scope of services are:

Task 1: Project Management and Coordination

Task 2: Fieldwork for 250 shelter locations

Task 3: 50% Detail Design Development

Task 4: 100% Detail Design Structural & Architectural

Task 5: 100% Civil Detail Design Development

Task 6: Bid Phase

Expected Impact:

The project goal is to provide safe and resilient design options for Precinct 4 Bus Shelters. New bus shelters will provide riders with a safe and clean place to wait for bus service as well as enhance the visual appeal of the surrounding location.

Alternative Options:

Alternative options include installing standard bus shelters, which do not provide a comfortable experience in Houston’s climate or contribute to the visual appeal of the surrounding location. The County could choose not to fund the project. However, the project could not move forward.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.

County Strategic Plan Objective: G: Expand and optimize multimodal transportation options.
