Background and Discussion:
Since inception, Crime Stoppers of Houston has solved 36,919 criminal cases, resulting in the arrest of 27,674 criminal suspects. In 2023 alone, tips to the Crime Stoppers of Houston anonymous tip line aided Harris County law enforcement agencies in the identification and/or arrest of 189 suspects and 370 cases solved, including 18 murders and 109 burglaries, robberies and thefts. As a result, nearly $200,000 was paid out in 2023 in the form of cash rewards.
Expected Impact:
Because thousands of criminal cases are still unsolved and tens of thousands of fugitives remain at large, Crime Stoppers of Houston remains the single biggest tool to assist law enforcement in their Herculean effort to solve and prevent crimes in the third most populous county in America.
