Background and Discussion:

Project included the reconstruction of Hufsmith-Kohrville Rd from Hollow Glen Lane to 500' North of Ezekiel from 2 lane asphalt road to 4 lane concrete curb and gutter boulevard with 32' raised median with traffic signals at Lacey Rd and Ezekiel Rd. There are two outfalls within limits of the project, North Pointe Blvd and Champion Wood Dr detention ponds.

Due to unsuitable soil conditions at the south detention pond, the Engineer of Record (EOR) has recommended the use of select fill soil to ensure adequate slope stability.

Reinforced concrete box structures were sinking due to the presence of groundwater, necessitating additional efforts from the contractor to implement wellpoint dewatering, which resulted in project delays.

Reworking to pass the proof rolling for fly-ash stabilization caused additional delays to the critical path.

An existing inlet was causing damage to traveling public vehicles and causing safety concerns.

The elimination of work zone marking was not called out in the original bid items.

Deduction of remaining Reinforced concrete pipes that was replaced with polypropylene pipes.

This change will properly compensate the contractor for the additional work.
