Background and Discussion:

Edgewater Park will be public park of over 38 acres with multiple amenities that will provide outdoor recreation and educational opportunities for residents and visitors near the northern Harris County border adjacent to the San Jacinto River and IH 69 in the Kingwood area.  The park will have a playground, nature trails, a regional trail segment, restrooms, natural areas, parking lots, a public boat launch and other amenities.

A Texas Parks and Wildlife grant funding the design of the boat launch was recently completed, and the design was approved by the grantor.  This grant provides the next phase of project funding.

Expected Impact:

This grant will fund construction of the public boat launch at Edgewater Park, the boat launch parking lot, and other boat launch related amenities.

Alternative Options:

The county could opt not to build the boat launch.
