Background and Discussion:
This project includes the construction of four 11-foot-wide concrete pavement with a 24-foot median, and 8-foot-wide sidewalk along both sides West Gulf Bank Road from Interstate 45 Freeway to Airline Drive. It also includes the drainage improvements.
The change order includes the following:
- Replacing 360 linear feet of 10” pipe and adding 80 Linear Feet of 10-inch Polyvinyl Chloride pipe, installation of a 4-foot manhole. This change will add $42,940.41 and additional 86 days to the contract.
- Installing 8 linear feet of 18” reinforced concrete pipe, pouring a collar between existing reinforced concrete pipe and proposed reinforced concrete box. This change will add $6,576.07 and additional 2 days to the contract.
- The delays in project progress during the period from January 15, 2024, to January 28, 2024, were primarily attributed to adverse weather conditions, specifically freezing temperatures, and heavy rainfall, which hindered travel to the site, material delivery, and halted work due to wet site conditions. The extension requests for both freezing weather conditions and heavy rainfall were evaluated and approved in accordance with item 5.27. This change will add additional 9 days to the contract.
- Three sewer services leads will be reconnected to the proposed 10" sanitary sewer line, while one lead will be disconnected and capped. This change will add $7,009.35 and additional 1 day to the contract.
Expected Impact:
Increase the total cost for the contract and adding additional days to the contract time.
