Request for approval to execute an interlocal agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to provide funding in the amount of $500,000 towards material inspection and testing services for materials fabricated off-site (Countywide).

Background and Discussion:
TxDOT maintains material inspection staff in material fabrication shops throughout the state. This Interlocal Agreement will allow the Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) to utilize TxDOT’s material inspection and testing services for off-site fabrication such as structural steel components, bridge bearing pads and pre-stressed beams.
Expected Impact:
Funding for this request will come from HCTRA. Approval of this request will permit HCTRA to support the construction project’s off-site material testing need, engineering, sustainability as well as communities within Harris County.
