Background and Discussion:
The City of Houston and Harris County submits a single, joint application to the United States Department of Justice for JAG funding annually. This funding is utilized by the Sheriff’s Office and the eight Constables Precincts to support necessary law enforcement related projects that cannot be funded through the general fund budget.
Expected Impact:
The City of Houston and Harris County have received approval for a one-year grant extension from the grantor in order to expend remaining funds.
Alternative Options:
The alternative is to not approve this extension, but this would mean not spending the remaining grant funds.
