Background and Discussion:

Little York and Hopper Detention Basins and Channel Drainage Improvements Project is in northeast Houston in Harris County Precinct 2. The purpose of the project is to implement channel conveyance improvements (desilt, slope stabilization, crossing replacements, culvert repair) along the Halls Bayou Tributary (P118-14-00) between the Hopper and Little York stormwater detention basins installed during the Halls Bayou Tributary Phase 1 Project (P518-10-00-E002).

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flood risks and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by alleviating property and structural damages to the adjacent community. The objective is to restore channel capacity and increase conveyance of storm water along the Halls Bayou Tributary. This will reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damages place on homeowners. It will also reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to Harris County and federal flood insurance program.
