Background and Discussion:
This Amendment No. 2 will provide archeological and environmental consulting services for the White Oak Bayou Federal Flood Damage Reduction Project, Channel Modifications Discrete Segment 105, White Oak Bayou from Hollister Street to FM 1960. This amendment allows for a continuation of ongoing archeological monitoring services because the construction time frame has been increased from the original scope due to a change in the construction contractor. Archeological monitoring services are a federal requirement for this project based on a Programmatic Agreement between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Texas State Historic Preservation Officer, and the Flood Control District for compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
Expected Impact:
Archeological and Environmental Consulting Services will provide compliance for Flood Control District construction of the White Oak Bayou Federal Flood Damage Reduction Project according to historic preservation regulations and the programmatic agreement between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Texas State Historic Preservation Officer, and the Flood Control District.
Alternative Options:
The alternative to approving this item would be to obtain a contract with a new vendor for these required services, which would result in a pause to construction to allow a new vendor to be selected and obtain a new permit for archeological monitoring. Construction cannot continue without an approved archeological monitoring consultant on the jobsite.
