Background and Discussion:

The Public Safety Technology Radio Communications team oversees the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support of the radio communication systems relied upon by Public Safety personnel. The demand for these services continues to grow due to expanded coverage areas, an increase in service requests, and rising operational complexity. Without dedicated field support, the department faces delays in resolving system issues, which could compromise the reliability of critical communication for first responders. This role is essential to ensuring the performance and dependability of radio communication systems that first responders rely on for real-time, seamless communication in the field.

This additional position would focus on proactive and responsive field support, including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and immediate issue resolution. By increasing field support, we aim to uphold the performance standards required to ensure Public Safety teams have seamless communication in urgent situations.

Expected Impact:

The addition of this position is anticipated to significantly improve the efficiency and responsiveness of field operations within the Radio Communications team. Expected benefits include reduced response times for on-site service requests, enhanced system reliability, and increased preventive maintenance capacity. Ultimately, this role will support the safety and effectiveness of our Public Safety teams by ensuring uninterrupted communication in critical situations, directly contributing to the safety and security of our community.
