Background and Discussion:

This is a request to declare as surplus and abandon HCFCD drainage easements that are no longer needed along Unit Q119-00-00, due to new easements that have been dedicated to convey the public water through the newly constructed channels. The easement portions to be abandoned will not be used as the new alignment of channels routes water away from the surplus easements.

Expected Impact:

The release of these unneeded easements will facilitate the completion of the Brown Chatham Phase I Residential Development in process by Lennar Homes. The proposed development will consist of a small lot single family development and a small drill site served by three detention basins connected by culverts and channels. This development is located in eastern Harris County, north of I-10 between Garth Road and Hadden Road.

Alternative Options:

If the easements are not abandoned, the property will remain encumbered by unused Flood Control District easement rights that have no use, and the proposed residential development will not proceed.
