Background and Discussion:

The Harris County region is seeking to become the first United Nations Resilience Hub designee <https://mcr2030.undrr.org/resilience-hub> within North America. This designation is for local governments across the world that have demonstrated good practices and innovative approaches in disaster risk reduction, resilience, and climate action. In line with FEMA’s assessment, Harris County and the City of Houston have the capacity and caliber to be the nation’s first Resilience Hub.

Expected Impact:

By securing this designation, the region will enhance international networks, access valuable resources, and strengthen local capacity to mitigate risks while fostering community resilience and sustainable development.
