Background and Discussion:

This report informs Harris County stakeholders, policymakers, and community members about the impact of active tuberculosis (TB) and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) on the community. The goal is to raise awareness of the rising rates of tuberculosis in Harris County and highlight efforts in surveillance, treatment, and contact investigation. This information is intended to support data-driven decision-making, enhance public health interventions, prevent the spread of TB, and improve outcomes for individuals affected by TB through timely diagnosis, treatment initiation, and treatment completion.

Expected Impact:

The goal of this report is to raise awareness of TB and LTBI trends in Harris County and provide an overview of the TB response by Public Health Services. It will explore the socio-demographic impacts of tuberculosis, highlight disparities among different demographic groups, and offer recommendations to address these inequities. Additionally, the report will present comprehensive statistical data and expert insights to support public health planning and policy development.
