Background and Discussion:

This is a joint project between the Flood Control District and the City of Houston to build 20 interconnecting storm water detention basins on the City of Houston property, formerly known as the Inwood Forest Golf Course. Immediate area has experienced repetitive flooding in the area, and this project is needed to provide flood damage reduction, as well as mitigate future City of Houston drainage projects in the area. The purpose of this change order is to increase pay items for pipe. The contract is extended by 47 days due to inclement weather experienced by the contractor.

Expected Impact:

This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract, which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
