Background and Discussion:
The Texas Education Agency has extended the ending date of the grant to Excel Academy Charter School to September 30, 2024 to coincide with federal law. The Harris County Juvenile Board has accepted these funds.
Expected Impact:
These funds allow the department to continue employing staff, address student learning loss, and meet the social/emotional/mental health needs of students attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alternative Options:
Without these funds, other funds would have to be used to pay for these staff.
