Background and Discussion:

Copperfield Southdown Village Section 1 Subdivision is located south of Longenbaugh Drive and west of Highway 6 in Precinct 3. The existing stormwater drainage system for the neighborhood consists of an underground storm sewer system with 24-inch to 48-inch reinforced concrete pipes (RCP). The system has three outfalls to HCFCD Unit No. U106-08-00. The existing system has experienced both localized flooding due overland sheet flows as well as potential regional flooding from Horsepen Creek (U106-00-00). As a result of the undersized system, the subdivision also experiences significant ponding along multiple roadways reducing access to the subdivision.  The scope and proposed improvements consist of upsizing storms sewer system and constructing a basin for mitigation.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood in the Copperfield Southdown Village Sec 1 subdivision. No impact to project cost, schedule or staffing anticipated.

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to approve or choose to reject the study recommendations. However, if not approved, the design plans cannot be completed as recommended in the study.
