Background and Discussion:

The project includes construction of a fire water loop, including underground piping, hydrants, water storage and pumping facilities, to support the Atascocita Complex facilities and make sure there is sufficient fire water and pressure capacity for the fire and life safety systems.  The Atascocita Complex includes the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Academy, Harris County Fire Marshal facilities, Precinct facilities, and the Harris County Community Supervision & Corrections Department.

Expected Impact:

This project will correct existing insufficient water and pressure conditions at the Atascocita Complex.  This project will ensure sufficient capacity for existing facilities as well as any planned and future facilities.

Alternative Options:

Alternatives to this request would be to keep current undersized system in place.   This would mean the existing facilities will not have adequate water pressure to meet emergency needs.  There are several projects in design that will not be occupiable without upgrades to the water loop system.
