Background and Discussion:

The Office of the County Engineer continues to deliver projects to that aim to improve subdivision drainage facilities, reduce flooding within subdivisions, improve mobility, and provide community improvement projects. The Huitt-Zollars, Inc. agreement for On-Call Professional Architecture and Engineering Services provides design services for the development and implementation of various Hurricane Harvey recovery drainage infrastructure improvement projects for Harris County. This renewal is a request for a one year extension.

Expected Impact:

Successful completion of the projects will aim to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community.  The consultant is the engineer of record for grant funded projects and will continue to provide services through completion of the project.  No additional funds are requested.

Alternative Options:

If the contract is not extended, the consultant will not be able continue services supporting the completion of the project.  The time required to procure a new consultant to provide engineering services will delay the completion of the project. Adjusting project schedules could potentially impact grant and partnership funding.
