Background and Discussion:
During the freeze event in February 2021 the non-native eucalyptus trees did not survive and were blowing onto the toll road which had to be removed for safety reasons. More than 600 trees from the 2.13 acres at the interchange were removed. The resulting Agreement with Asakura Robinson Company LLC (a DBE/HUB), will provide landscaping design that will replace the removed non-native trees with native species of trees and wildflowers to improve the sustainability of the area naturally and aesthetically. The design plan will maintain our landscape and storm water quality compliance, require less maintenance in the long term, and be more resilient to changes in local weather.
Expected Impact:
The landscape architecture firm will provide landscaping design services to improve the surrounding area naturally and aesthetically.
