Background and Discussion:

The mission of the Expose Excellence Youth Program (EEYP) to advocate for, educate, mentor, and holistically empower youth aligns with OCRE’s commitment to expanding opportunity, investing in youth development, and advancing equitable outcomes for underserved communities. The program is designed for students ages 10 to 17 who are not currently involved in the juvenile justice system. EEYP provides mentor and case management services designed to provide mentees with a plethora of wraparound services that will give them the opportunity to become successful.

The Expose Excellence Youth Program Freedom Tour will take students to the heart of the Civil Rights Movement (Selma, Tuskegee, Memphis, and New Orleans), where they will engage in meaningful discussions, reflect on the impact of past leaders, and explore how their voices and actions can shape the future.

Expected Impact:

In furtherance of the objectives of Precinct One’s summer youth programming, this event will help youth develop positive self-awareness, cultural competency, aspirations, and self-expression, and teach youth to take personal responsibility and opening doors to opportunities will help them become successful citizens.
