Background and Discussion:

Grants from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority provide financial support to law enforcement agencies for economic automobile theft enforcement teams and to combat motor vehicle burglary in the jurisdiction. The granting agency requires the resolution be submitted with the application due April 18, 2025. For this reason, the Sheriff’s Office is first seeking approval of the resolution. The application is in progress and will be included on the May 8, 2025, court.

Expected Impact:

This grant would provide funding for the Auto Theft Unit to combat auto theft.

Alternative Options:

Not applying for this grant would forfeit the funding opportunity for the Auto Theft Unit.
