Background and Discussion:

Harris County Public Health’s Office of Planning and Innovation is actively conducting the agency’s Community Health Assessment (CHA), a community-driven, multi-sector process to improve community health, remove health disparities, and achieve health equity. The Community Member Focus Groups aim to convene community members to discuss health concerns and hear their unique perspectives and voices to shape the conversation and improve our understanding of the diverse experiences and needs of the Harris County community. Offering incentives has been a key component to increase community engagement and participation in Harris County Public Health initiatives.

Expected Impact:

Incentives will ensure the CHA Community Member Focus Groups meet the goal for the target number of participants in priority populations. The qualitative data from this project will be used to assess Harris County’s most pressing population health issues and align resources across sectors to take strategic action on the social and structural determinants that lead to and perpetuate poor health outcomes and inequities.
