Background and Discussion:

The Harris County Public Health (HCPH) Clinic Open House Series is a four-event initiative designed to directly address these barriers by bringing the community into HCPH clinic spaces in a welcoming, celebration-style format. Each open house requires no registration, no appointment, and no cost, removing common access obstacles and inviting residents to engage with HCPH services on their own terms. Events will be held at four clinic locations across Harris County, with dates spanning May through September 2026. Each open house will feature free health services on-site, including school physicals, WIC services, nutrition demonstrations, and dental health education, alongside giveaways, live music, and refreshments. The format is designed to be accessible, welcoming, and family-friendly, encouraging attendees to bring friends and family.

Expected Impact:

The Clinic Open House Series is expected to increase community awareness of HCPH clinic locations and services, reduce barriers to first-time clinic visits, and drive enrollment and engagement in ongoing HCPH programs. By meeting residents in a low-barrier, community-facing setting, HCPH will strengthen public trust, build lasting relationships with the communities it serves, and create measurable increases in clinic utilization following each event.
