Background and Discussion:
This project is part of the Little White Oak Bayou Sub-Watershed Flood Risk Reduction Study completed on August 31, 2022. The feasibility study provided substantial information to forego the Preliminary Engineering Design stage and to move forward with establishing a Conceptual Design Report (CDR) and Final Design. The Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) studies on multiple alternatives were not necessary, and the Precinct and Landscape Architect were coordinated with early on to generate a rendering. B2Z Engineering, Inc. is the designated design consulting firm for this project.
The Yale Storm Water Detention Basin (SWDB) is an interim project to mitigate future channel improvements along the existing Little White Oak Bayou (E101-00-00). The project consists of design and construction on Harris County Flood Control District (Flood Control District) property, within Precinct 2 and within City of Houston (COH) limits. The Yale SWDB is located just west of the I-45 and East Tidwell Road intersection within the White Oak Bayou Watershed (See Exhibits 1 and 2 attached). This project, along with future improvement projects, will help remove the 500-year area of inundation from an estimated 2,815 structures, 2,520 acres of land and 82.8 miles of roadway. The prioritization framework score for this project is __5.3____ and occurs in the 2nd quartile under the 2022 Prioritization Framework approved by Commissioners Court.
