Request Summary (Agenda Caption):

title

Transmittal by the Flood Control District of a preliminary engineering report by GC Engineering, Inc., dated November 7, 2022, and titled Little Cypress Creek Channel Improvements from Confluence of Units L100-00-00 and K100-00-00 to Telge Road Crossing (Cypress Creek and Little Cypress Creek Watersheds, Bond ID F-26, Project ID L100-00-00-E001, Precinct 3).

Background and Discussion:

The purpose of this transmittal is to approve the Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) that was to examine potential design alternatives for the Little Cypress Creek Channel Improvements from the Confluence of Units L100-00-00 and K100-00-00 to Telge Road Crossing project. This project will add channel capacity to provide water surface elevation reduction within the Little Cypress Creek watershed. Supporting design information collected as part of the PER includes topographic survey of the basin and channels in the study area, geotechnical investigation, landscape architectural conceptual design, jurisdictional wetland delineation, cultural resources, ordinary high water mark determination, water quality, Section 404 Individual Permit application with the USACE, geomorphic assessment, and natural stable channel design verification.

Expected Impact:

The acceptance of this PER will allow the Flood Control District to move into the engineering stage of this project, when funding is available. In the engineering stage, Flood Control District staff will manage the engineering consultant to finalize the design of the project and publicly bid for construction through Harris County Purchasing

Alternative Options:

The alternative should this PER not be approved is that the Flood Control District will not be able to proceed to the design phase of our project lifecycle.
