Background and Discussion:
This grant is funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Refugee Cash and Medical Assistance program reimburses states for the cost of medical assistance provided to refugees. U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) administers the program for HHS. USCRI is an international advocacy and domestic refugee resettlement organization, headquartered in Washington, DC.
The Refugee Program conducts thorough health screenings for newly arrived refugees, including medical history assessments, physical examinations, and laboratory tests.
