Background and Discussion:

It is recommended that the Flood Control District be authorized to submit a full grant application through a Cooperating Technical Partner (CTP) Grant seeking funding for outreach activities to support MAAPnext.

MAAPnext is a grant funded effort to update the effective Flood Insurance Rate Maps, supporting data, and to enhance flood risk awareness across the county. Draft data was submitted to FEMA in January 2022.  The release of the preliminary maps has taken longer than expected, and we are seeking additional grant funds to support the additional communication activities necessary as a result of this extended schedule.

The anticipated federal share for the project is $71,070 with no local match.

Expected Impact:

This grant will support updates and maintenance of the MAAPnext.org website, of our stakeholder database, and help facilitate meetings with Commissioners Court member offices.

Alternative Options:

The alternative is to reduce MAAPnext communication activities.
