Background and Discussion:
Harris County Precinct 2 has requested that Harris County Engineering Department
(HCED) complete the demolition of all existing HVAC system and associated components and
manage the replacement with a new more energy efficient system and improvements to building
envelop at the Hardy Senior Center, located at 11901 W Hardy Road, Houston, Texas 77076.
Expected Impact:
The project should adhere to the principals established in Commissioner Adrian Garcia's
Revive2Thrive initiative. Revive2Thrive focuses on revitalization rather than gentrification by
empowering communities and creating opportunities for existing neighborhoods to be more
resilient, inclusive, and thriving.
Alternative Options:
Attempt to maintain the existing equipment and facilities, this will lead to continual increased usage and maintenance costs; and will eventually need full replacement at a much higher price due to inflation.
