Background and Discussion:
This project is located in the North Houston area, in the proximity of the I-45 and Farm to Market 1960 Rd W Intersection. This project is proposing sidewalk on both sides of the existing roadway along Cypress Station Drive from Hollow Tree Lane to Wells Fargo Drive (Approx. 9,500 feet or 1.8 miles - both sides of the road) and Peakwood Drive from Cali Drive to West of Satinwood Drive (Approx. 1,600 feet or 0.3 miles - both sides of road) and Butterfield Rd from Hafer Rd to Cypress Station Dr (Approx. 791 feet or 0.15 miles - both sides or road) and Lantern Bend Dr from Cypress Station Dr to Westfield Pl Drive (Approx. 1,655 feet or 0.31 miles - both sides of road). The scope and proposed improvements include proposed sidewalk, driveway reconstruction as necessary, pavement striping and re-striping, and ADA compliant curb ramps.
Expected Impact:
In implementing the proposed improvements, this project seeks to increase pedestrian safety throughout the area with sidewalk away from vehicular traffic lanes. This will reduce the number of constituents currently walking on the paved roadways and reduce the risk of injury to our constituents.
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to approve the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the project will not proceed with construction, and pedestrians will continue to occupy our roadways on foot, maintaining a dangerous situation.
