Background and Discussion:
Harris County Public Library seeks to bridge the digital divide in an underserved community by expanding high-speed fiber connectivity to potential satellite library locations and enhancing the computer lab at Aldine Branch Library. Fiber access will transform satellite sites into digital hubs for remote work, digital access and education. The lab expansion will offer improved resources for workforce training, distance learning, and community programs.
Expected Impact:
This grant allows the capacity for expanded access to high-speed fiber connectivity and enhancements to Library branches throughout the county.
Alternative Options:
The County Library would have to request additional general funds to be able to complete the scope of the project.
