title

Request for approval to transfer ownership of the electrical service account for the Fellows CCTV camera at 3402 1/2 S Sam Houston Pkwy, TX 77047, from TxDOT to HCTRA with recurring usage costs for the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system (Precinct 1).

Background and Discussion:

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have become an integral part of modern roadway infrastructure. Their use has increased significantly over the past decade as governments and transportation agencies seek to improve road safety, monitor traffic flow, and deter criminal activity. Roadway CCTV systems typically consist of strategically placed cameras that provide real-time visual data to traffic control centers and law enforcement agencies.

The deployment of CCTV cameras on roadways offers a range of benefits. For example, these cameras enhance traffic management by enabling authorities to monitor congestion, quickly identify accidents, and coordinate emergency responses.

Expected Impact:

Approval of the CCTV Service ownership transfer will enable CenterPoint Energy to transfer the service account from TxDOT to HCTRA since this CCTV provides video coverage along the Sam Houston Tollway and will be consistent with other electrical services for adjacent CCTV cameras along the same roadway facility.  As a result, HCTRA will assume responsibility for all future billing associated with this service.

Alternative Options:

No other recommended solutions for this identified need.
