Background and Discussion:

The Ryan White Grant Administration has long provided transportation assistance to clients residing in the rural regions of the Houston EMA through various voucher systems. Rural clients are unable to utilize METRO bus vouchers; therefore, gas cards are distributed by providers to clients in need of assistance traveling to and from medical appointments. Approval of gas cards and other transportation vouchers are outlined in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Services: Eligible Individuals & Allowable Uses of Funds Policy Clarification Notice (PCN) #16-02.

Expected Impact:

Removes transportation barriers for people living with HIV in rural areas who do not have access to METRO or other transportation options in order to access primary and other medical care.
