Background and Discussion:
The Inwood Forest Stormwater Detention Basin is a joint project between the Flood Control District and the City of Houston to build 12 interconnecting storm water detention basins on the City of Houston property formerly known as the Inwood Forest Golf Course. Immediate areas have experienced repetitive flooding in the area, and this project is needed to provide flood damage reduction, as well as mitigate future City of Houston drainage projects in the area. This contract change is necessary to reconcile construction quantities with no change in contract amount.
Expected Impact:
The Inwood Detention Basin will provide detention volume which will be equally shared by the City and the Flood Control District to provide flood mitigation and general flood damage reduction benefits to Harris County residents.
Alternative Options:
This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
Alignment with Goal(s):
_ Justice and Safety
_ Economic Opportunity
_ Housing
