Background and Discussion:
As part of a previous countywide study, many subdivisions were identified as being prone to flooding. From high-level limited analysis, the referenced subdivision was selected for further analysis due to overland flow and limited local drainage, determined through flood hazard data assessment and rain and grid investigation. This request will allow Harris County to initiate a detailed study with the consultant to provide professional engineering services for assessment and recommendation for drainage improvements within the selected subdivision.
Expected Impact:
As a preliminary mitigation measure, each subdivision drainage project entails the evaluation of either adding or upgrading the existing storm sewer system along the roadways within the referenced subdivision boundaries to address ponding issues. Additionally, the consultant will provide additional alternative(s) as part of their recommendation.
Alternative Options:
If no action is taken, the proposed drainage improvements will not be evaluated for feasibility, thereby depriving residents and pedestrians of the enhancements these potential improvements are intended to provide.
