title

Request for approval to execute a Joint Partnership with Harris County Fresh Water Supply District No. 61 (HCFWSD 61) for water and sanitary utility relocations and related appurtenances in connection with Tower Oaks Meadows Subdivision Drainage Improvements - 2018, UPIN 19103MF12K01, Precinct 3.

Background and Discussion:

The project area is located in the Northwest area, bounded by Barwood Subdivision on the North, N Eldridge Pkwy on the East, Fallbrook Dr on the South, and Marrs Dr on the West. The subdivision is specifically bounded on the West by HCFCD Unit E133-00-00, on the East by HCFCD Unit E132-00-00. The Tower Oaks Meadows Subdivision is primarily served by roadside ditch drainage systems. The scope of the project includes storm sewer improvements by re-grading roadside ditches and providing additional capacity underneath ditches to accommodate for increased conveyance, and full roadway reconstruction in the subdivision. HCFWSD 61 benefits from the proposed improvements and has agreed to a joint participation to fund 100% of the water and sanitary relocation during construction.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in Tower Oaks Meadows Subdivision. The fiscal impact for this project will come from CDBG-MIT grant funds and HCFWSD 61. No impact on the project schedule or staffing is anticipated.

Alternative Options:

The proposed improvements to this project cannot be completed without addressing the water/sanitary utility conflicts.
