Background and Discussion:

This project consists of improvements to 5 intersections within the Katy area. The intersections are Westgreen Boulevard at Interstate Highway IH- 10, South Fry Road at Highland Knolls Drive, North Fry Road at Westfield Parkway, North Fry Road at Kieth Harrow Boulevard and North Fry Road at West Little York Road. The work includes constructing and upgrading traffic signals (to be more reliable during the storms), ADA-compliant pedestrian and traffic signal features, 1,000 linear feet of sidewalks and properly sloped driveways. Overall, the project enhances transportation accessibility and safety within the Katy areas.

 

Expected Impact:

Awarding the contract will allow the recommended bidder to proceed with construction. Project is needed to improve mobility, connectivity and safety for residents and pedestrians in Katy area and enhance pedestrian access within the surrounding neighborhood.

 

Alternative Options:

The alternative is not to award the contract. If no action is taken, the proposed improvements will not be constructed.
