Background and Discussion:

Harris County is partnering and entering into an interlocal agreement with Fort Bend County related to the proposed improvements to Belknap Road with portions located in Harris County and Fort Bend County.

The project will widen Belknap Road from a two-lane asphalt roadway to a four-lane concrete boulevard, adding new concrete curbs and gutters. It includes installing upgraded storm drainage infrastructure, utility conflicts and sidewalks up to 5 feet wide will be constructed where needed along the corridor. Fort Bend County is managing the design and construction of the project.

Expected Impact:

The road expansion will reduce traffic, improve traffic and pedestrian safety, and improve drainage on Belknap.

Alternative Options:

Without the approval the road will not be expanded and the traffic improvements cannot be implemented.
