Background and Discussion:
This project is a component of the Greens Bayou Mid Reach project intended to mitigate flooding in the watershed. Construction of the Lauder SWDB - Phase 1 was completed in February 2022 under Project ID P500-06-00-E005 and construction of Lauder SWDB - Phase 2, Compartment 1 was completed in March 2025 under Project ID P500-06-00-E006. This project includes construction of the Lauder SWDB - Phase 2, Compartment 2 with the project site being approximately 48 acres of land adjacent to the Greens Bayou. The proposed Compartment 2 will be connected to the existing Compartment 1 with a 72-inch Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) connector pipe through the Sunoco easement. Project is being funded by the 2018 Bond and CDBG-DR program.
Expected Impact:
Overall objective is to reduce water surface elevation for a 10-year storm event, mitigate future channel conveyance improvements, and mitigate future County storm sewer improvements along tributary P138-00-00. The project alone provides interim benefits and reduces flood risks to 29 structures during the 100-year storm event.
Alternative Options:
No Action Alternative would fail to meet the purpose and needs of mitigating flood risk and provide additional system capacity for this Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funded project. Under the No action alternative, area residents would continue to be affected by area flooding.
