Request Summary (Agenda Caption):
title
Request for approval to execute an interlocal agreement with the City of Taylor Lake Village in connection with Kirby Boulevard near City Hall and Village Park and all related appurtenances, UPIN 26102MF3YD01, Precinct 2.
end
Background and Discussion:
This project aims to mitigate flooding along pedestrian sidewalks on Kirby Boulevard in Taylor Lake Village, where rain events currently cause street runoff to inundate sidewalks, rendering them unusable. As a result, pedestrians are forced to walk in vehicle lanes, creating significant safety risks, or traverse adjacent properties that become wet and muddy, posing additional hazards. By addressing these drainage issues, the project seeks to enhance pedestrian safety, accessibility, and overall walkability in the area.
Expected Impact:
Elevating the sidewalks will permit residents to walk in parts of the city, including to get access to City Hall and the Village Park, after rain events.
Alternative Options:
The alternative option for this proposal would be not to enter into the agreement and seek other options.
County Strategic Plan Goal: 2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
