Background and Discussion:

The purpose of this contract change is to extend the concrete channel lining to match the actual quantities required to complete the original scope and to adjust the contract duration by adding 63 days (30 days for the modified scope of work and 33 days for weather-related delays). There is available budget in this project to cover the additional costs.

Expected Impact:

This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
