Background and Discussion:

The scope of work consists of, but not limited to, the following tasks for reconstruction of approximately 3.18 miles of roads - Van Road 0.85 mile, Ramsey Road (2.3 miles), a portion of shields street within Missouri Pacific Railroad Right-of-Way (160 LF), and the rehabilitation of Plum Grove Road 2.25 within Harris County Precinct 3 area.

This change in contract includes:

  • PCO #01 (RFI #9): Addition of a new line item for Cement Stabilization to be used for subgrade stabilization in areas where it is deemed the most appropriate method as opposed to Lime and Fly Ash.

Expected Impact:

Improved overall subgrade stabilization and enhanced long-term durability of the roadway, along with a reduction in the overall contract cost.  The net cost impact to the contract is estimated to be a savings of $22,917.00.

Alternative Options:

While lime and fly ash could be used as an alternative, this method is less effective in terms of long-term durability and would result in higher overall costs.
