Background and Discussion:
Tree Spading Services for the Harris County Flood Control District support the District’s reforestation efforts through the transplanting and establishment of trees that are larger than what can be provided through traditional nursery supplies.
Expected Impact:
Awarding this contract will allow the District to continue to move select trees out of the path of construction and place large trees on sites to be enjoyed by the public. Trees transplanting through these operations provide instant impact to reforestation areas and helps to speed the reforestation process.
Alternative Options:
The District could purchase the equipment necessary for tree moving and recruit and train personnel to operate the equipment. The District could also forego any large tree moving operations.
