Background and Discussion:
This project’s purpose is to replace the bulkhead along HCFCD channel G103-24-00 under the Maintenance Matters proposition, including erosion repairs, and replacement of aging outfall pipes and structures. It is located at the confluence of G103-24-02 to approximately 1,200 feet downstream. HCFCD received three (3) responsive bids on March 30, 2026, for this project. The recommendation is to award the project to the lowest responsible bidder, MC2 Civil, LLC.
Expected Impact:
This project restores the overall functionality of channel G103-24-00 to its original as-designed condition. It stops the spread of currently worsening erosions as well as prevents the formation of future erosions.
Alternative Options:
The “Do Nothing” option would allow the bulkhead to continue to fail along G103-24-00 causing additional erosion leading to further detriment of the channel’s intended functionality, as well as potential safety hazards for the general public should an individual choose to walk near or along the channel.
