Background and Discussion:
This grant would provide overtime funding for the Vehicular Crimes Division during the grant award period of October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025.
Expected Impact:
Providing overtime funding for Vehicular Crimes Division personnel to promptly respond to crashes of all severities will minimize delays and potential evidence loss. This rapid response to incidents aims to clear roadways quicker which reduces secondary crashes and overall crime rates in high-crime areas. This greatly improves community relations and perception of law enforcement, as well as promptness to community safety. The overtime funding will also be utilized to reduce backlogged investigations.
Alternative Options:
If we do not apply for this grant, the Sheriff’s Office will forfeit the opportunity to receive overtime funding for the Vehicular Crimes Division.
